Kings Canyon National Park is adjacent to Sequoia National Park in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. It was established in 1940. It's known for its huge sequoia trees, notably the gigantic General Grant Tree in Grant Grove. We attempted to drive through, but turned around. We were not able to see to the bottom of the canyon and the smoke was irritating to our eyes. We then stayed at a higher elevation of the park. Unfortunately, we were only able to see a very small section.

We met a Game Warden in the park and he pointed out bear treks on the side of the road. Some of the trees on photograph burned in a fire about five years ago.

The Chicago Stump, a once living, beautiful sequoia tree.
