This has been on my bucket list for years. Hiking down the Kaibab trail in the Grand Canyon and taking a dip in the Colorado River. Yes, it was strenuous, however, what Greg and I learned from this was the incredible beauty of this canyon with its flora and fauna. We also were reminded again the unsurmountable respect we have for Mother Nature.

DAY 1: START OF OUR TRIP - BEFORE WE THREW THE 27POUND PACKS ON OUR BACKS:))

ON THE WAY TO OUR CAMPSITE

Arrived at our campsite in Cremation Canyon about half way down and yes........there is a canyon within a canyon!!!!

There is no water at this canyon for most of the year, however, there are plants growing out of nowhere and a spotted lizard stayed close to our tent.

Day 2: Leaving camp to hike down to the Colorado River. Before we took a dip in the river we enjoyed some ice-cold lemonade at Phantom Ranch, a lodge at the bottom of the canyon.

The Colorado River and the Kaibab trail from the top.

On our way to Phantom Ranch a mule trek passed us. They were faster, but I felt safer on my own feet than on a horse's.
